Fleet & Facility
The Vermillion Police Department is located inside the City/ County Public Safety Center and Emergency Operations Building, which is behind the historic Clay County Courthouse in downtown Vermillion. The Public Safety Center is located at 15 Washington Street and was built in 1989. The building is home to the Vermillion Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Clay County Jail, Clay Area Emergency Communication's Center and DCI Satellite Office.
The Vermillion Police Department fleet includes four marked patrol cars, a marked Harley Davidson Motorcycle and patrol bicycles. The four patrol cars are used by the uniformed patrol staff which includes 11 sworn officers, 3 sergeants and 1 Lieutenant. Two of our uniformed patrol officers are certified motor officers and utilize police motorcycle. Four of our officers are IPMBA patrol bicycle certified officers and utilize the patrol bicycles.
The Vermillion Police Department fleet consists of two patrol sedans and two patrol SUV's. The Vermillion Police Department has recently transitioned from the Ford Crown Victoria's to Chevrolet Caprice's and Chevrolet Tahoe SUV's. The fleet is maintained by the city's fulltime mechanics who also maintain the entire fleet of city vehicles.
