Fleet and Facility


The Vermillion Police Department is located inside the City/County Public Safety Center and Emergency Operations Building, which is behind the historic Clay County Courthouse in downtown Vermillion. The Public Safety Center is located at 15 Washington Street and was built in 1989. The building is home to the Vermillion Police Department, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Clay County Jail, Clay Area Emergency Communication's Center and DCI Satellite Office.

Patrol Fleet

The Vermillion Police Department fleet includes five marked patrol cars and patrol bicycles. The five patrol cars are used by the uniformed patrol staff which includes 12 sworn officers, 3 sergeants and 1 Lieutenant. Four of our officers are IPMBA patrol bicycle certified officers and utilize the patrol bicycles.

The Vermillion Police Department fleet consists of one patrol pickup and four patrol SUV's. The fleet is maintained by the city's fulltime mechanics who also maintain the entire fleet of city vehicles.
